ChicAGO 2006 Foundation

The ChicAGO 2006 Foundation was created by and is jointly administered by the Fox Valley, North Shore, and Chicago chapters of the American Guild of Organists.

In 1999 these three chapters were chosen by the National Council of the American Guild of Organists to host its 2006 biennial national convention in Chicago. It was identified early on that should the convention generate a sufficient profit that this profit would be used to award monetary grants for various purposes to ultimately further the work of the Guild.

To the credit of the many people who gave of their time during the 6 year planning process, the ChicAGO 2006 National Convention was a great success. Subsequently, much work and thought has gone into the creation of the Foundation since the convention to ensure its longevity and to fulfill the vision of the original planning committee of the ChicAGO 2006 National Convention.

The purpose of the ChicAGO 2006 Foundation is to assist, through monetary grants, educational and charitable endeavors of a public nature, including but not limited to the conducting of competitions for organists, the giving of scholarships for participation in master classes, pipe organ encounters or similar programs, the organization and presentation of educational experiences and programs for organists, and the commissioning of appropriate new musical compositions.
